Frequently asked questions

Common questions on AEO, chartering, freight forwarding and representation

What is AEO certification and why does it matter?

AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) is the Brazilian Customs seal that recognizes trusted companies in the customs chain. Certified companies face less yellow/red channel inspection, priority clearance and access to the Blue Corridor, reducing lead time and total logistics cost.

When is chartering better than the regular liner service?

Chartering makes sense when volume would occupy multiple FCL slots, when the shipping window is critical, or when cargo is indivisible, over-dimensioned or over-weight. It wins on predictability, even at a higher unit freight.

What does a freight forwarder do?

The freight forwarder coordinates door-to-door international transport: booking space with carriers, documentation, customs clearance, transshipments and last mile. Achilles acts as consulting and oversight over the freight forwarder, ensuring adherence to the contracted SLA.

How does Achilles' commercial representation work?

We represent foreign carriers, operators and manufacturers in Brazil with active commercial presence, market intelligence, interface with authorities and real-time operational support — without the need to open a local subsidiary.
