AEO Focus · 7 & 17-point inspection

Diagnosis and maintenance for the 7 and 17-point inspection

The 7-point (container) and 17-point (road vehicle) inspection is the core of AEO-Security. Without solid evidence of those checks, the certification is exposed at every revalidation. Achilles diagnoses your gaps, redesigns the process with digital evidence and keeps the routine auditable, aligned with the cases delivered at port terminals and Cargosnap-powered operations.

  • 7-point container diagnosis: front wall, left and right sides, roof, floor, doors (inside and outside) and undercarriage/chassis.
  • 17-point vehicle diagnosis: cab, engine, fuel tank, chassis, axles, bumpers, fifth wheel, extra tanks and hidden compartments.
  • Standardized checklists, geotagged photos and digital signatures as AEO-S evidence.
  • End-to-end auditable trail, retrieve evidence in minutes, not days, for self-assessment, revalidation and client audits.
  • Monthly indicator cadence with the internal AEO committee and action plan for non-conformities.

Frequently asked questions

Questions on AEO, chartering, freight forwarding and representation

What is the 7 and 17-point inspection required by AEO?

They are the cargo unit integrity checks required under AEO-Security. The 7-point inspection covers the container (front wall, sides, roof, floor, doors, inside and outside, and undercarriage/chassis). The 17-point inspection covers the road vehicle (cab, engine, fuel tank, chassis, axles, bumpers, fifth wheel, extra tanks and hidden compartments). Every movement must produce auditable evidence, checklist, photo and signature, ready for the self-assessment, revalidation and client audits.

How long does AEO certification take?

It depends on initial maturity. Well-structured companies usually complete it in 8 to 12 months; companies in an early compliance stage take 18 to 24 months. Brazilian Customs has up to 120 days to analyze the self-assessment after filing.

What's the difference between a freight forwarder and an NVOCC?

A freight forwarder organizes international transport on behalf of the shipper, without necessarily issuing an HBL. An NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) acts as a contractual carrier, issuing its own bill of lading. Achilles oversees both models.

Which chartering modalities do you structure?

We work with voyage charter, time charter and contract of affreightment (COA), with approved brokers, technical assessment of vessel, berth and equipment, contract, laytime clauses and door-to-door operational supervision.

Does Achilles act as commercial representative for foreign companies?

Yes. We represent foreign carriers, logistics operators and manufacturers in Brazil, with active commercial presence, market intelligence, interface with authorities and operational execution, in the client's own time zone and language.
